How it Works

VPS is the web-based, Software as a Service tool that allows you to access and analyze your data in ways that are truly transformative, allowing you to focus on value-creating opportunities all across your business.  VPS, like GPS, provides macro-to-micro visualization and clear direction in a fast, actionable and affordable manner.

Proprietary Analytics

Once your data is loaded and organized on the BUCS platform, we apply a series of highly sophisticated analytical methods and tools.  Many of the tools, methods and calculations used are proprietary to BUCS, as we analyze your data using advanced financial measures, operational metrics and a unique category we call supply chain physics.

Among the proprietary methods deployed by BUCS are the identification of key data elements along with the mapping and association of these elements; the efficient and effective organization of data; the calculations required to measure performance including Service, Growth and Value (Cash Flow and Return) metrics in a coordinated and consistent manner across business dimensions; the means to link company level performance to transactional level performance; the integration of supply chain physics as well as its impacts on Company and product level Service, Growth and Value performance; the development of data views in support of specific types of analysis; as well as the effective representation of information in simplified and compelling visual, graphic and tabular representations.

Platform Services

Once we have your organization’s data, your work is complete from an IT perspective, meaning that you neither need to purchase any hardware or servers nor install or manage any database or application software.  Using proven methods to transform and load your data to populate the secure BUCS Analytics data warehouse, while BUCS streamlines your data for highly efficient in-memory computing.

Data Inputs

Based on years of experience in working with Big Data, BUCS has a proven approach for assisting your IT team with identifying, gathering and formatting your data for loading and integration into the BUCS platform, all in a secure and swift fashion.

While internal data can take many forms, we generally categorize it as follows:

• Financial / General Ledger

• Transactional (Sales, Purchases, Bill of Materials, Payments)

• Dimensional (Customer, Supplier, Product, Location)

For a number of our clients, there are highly regarded industry data sources that can be used to assist in benchmarking performance.  For example, RMA data from the Risk Management Association is just one of the external sources used by BUCS.

To provide company level performance context, key economic trends and leading indicators are utilized. This information provides guidance on appropriate actions and associated timing given general economic trends.

Also, we often see that as companies advance in their utilization of data driven analytic methods, data from customers and suppliers can be further utilized to provide even greater insights. The linking with these external sources of data provide insights into Supplier performance trends as well Customer performance by location. In each situation, this linkage of data advanced the collective understanding, leading to greater collaboration as well as improved performance.

BUCS VPS architecture begins with readily available business and market data and culminates in a Software as a Service (SaaS) product known as VPS, a powerful, cloud-based solution that leads to business insight and clarity like never before.  Rollover anywhere on the diagram to learn more.
